Johnny Johnson

Mr. Johnny Johnson, age 72, of Lyons, died Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County and worked as a mechanic at Horton’s Automotive for thirteen years before opening Johnson’s Garage. Johhny was member of Calvary Way Baptist Church in Lyons, loved working on diesel trucks, and playing poker. He was a preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Nan Johnson; and two brothers, Larry Johnson and Benny Johnson.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Linda Kay Johnson of Lyons; eight sisters, Betty Jean King, Sarah Nell Whitaker, both of Vidalia, JoAnn Toole of Lyons, Margie Beasley and husband Craig of Uvalda, Peggy Tomlin of Brunswick, Lynn Barefoot and husband Drake of Salem, Alabama, Karen Kilgore and husband David of Lyons, Teresa Taylor and husband Toby of Alma, and Joann Clements and husband Dennis of Vidalia; one brothers, Robin Johnson and wife Michelle of Oak Park; and a brother-in-law, Micheal and wife Jeanean James of Kingston, Oklahoma.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5:00 until 7:00.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 31st at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Wilkes Funeral Home with Pastor Nathaniel Joyce officiating. The burial will follow in Harden’s Chapel Cemetery.
